Job Description

As part of the Registrar's IT Solutions group, the Security and Systems Support area encourages best practices in a variety of subjects ranging from using strong passwords to security of personal information. We encourage the protection of Western's student information by ensuring access to the information is limited to what is required and encouraging a shared responsibility approach to privacy and security.
In conjunction with the Manager - Security and Systems, the Security and Systems Support Officer plays an integral role in providing security, training, and support to users across Western in various areas such as the PeopleSoft Student Administration system, LaserFiche software, and Cognos reporting software.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or Quantitative Program is preferred
Experience:
- 2 years' experience working with relational databases
- 2 years' experience with People Soft Higher Education is preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and confidence dealing with all levels of an organization
- Strong customer service skills to handle enquiries and resolve issues in a professional and timely manner
- Ability to process information with high levels of accuracy
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet tight deadlines and adapt to growth and change
- A strong record of teamwork with the motivation and ability to work independently with little supervision
- Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office
- Resourceful with a strong sense of accountability and initiative
- Proven ability and natural inclination to interact with people in a professional, respectful and diplomatic manner
- Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
- Judgment, analytical and problem solving skills with a consultative and collaborative approach to addressing issues and opportunities
- Ability to work in a manner that is compliant with confidentiality requirements
- Knowledge of Peoplesoft Higher Education preferred
