As Manager, Human Resources and Finance, you will act as a key resource to faculty and staff in the Faculty of Science. You will provide insights and support to ensure that staff and faculty receive the necessary guidance on administrative, financial and human resource policies, practices and procedures.

As Manager, Human Resources & Finance, a typical day might include the following:
  • Organizing, planning, supervising, leading and managing all activities as it relates to Finance and Human Resources in the Dean’s office.
  • Solving complex issues, as well as negotiating and influencing decision-making to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Development of the human resources plan for all staff and faculty; including appointments, staff job descriptions, recruitment, orientation, performance assessment, annual evaluation processes, academic appointments, promotion and tenure, sabbaticals and alternative workloads
  • Ensuring compliance with accreditation, legislative, and institutional policies and procedures.
  • Developing new processes and ensuring consistency across all departments within the Faculty. As well, as internal communications within the faculty.
  • Oversight of the financial operating budget, including monitoring of carry forward funding and budget variances.
  • Oversight of the Research Plan for the faculty, which includes grant administration and supporting compliance with funding agencies and interdisciplinary collaboration.

We’d love to hear from people with:
  • An undergraduate degree, preferably in Business or Administration
    • Preferred: Master’s Degree, enrolled or completed CHRL or Accounting Designation
  • 7 Years management experience (HR, financial, administrative, or operational), including 7 years supervisory experience leading teams
  • Experience in employee relations
    • Preferred: Experience in a unionized or public sector environment
    • Preferred: Experience in academic environment.
