Job Description:
Eclipse Scientific is seeking an experienced NDT Mechanical Engineer with Ph. D. to support our fast paced, progressive organization in the ongoing product development in state-of-the-art NDT inspection capabilities. We are seeking candidates who are experienced in mechanical engineering and with a background in NDT specific product design development and automation.
 
  • Develop, verify, qualify, and approve the technical adequacy of NDT procedures, techniques, and work instructions
  • Interpret client-provided, and other NDT codes, standards, specifications, and procedures
  • Audit NDT products, services, and procedures/techniques provided by a 3rd party
  • Responsible for the NDT operations to which certified and assigned
  • Coordinate with the project manager and client’s project personnel as directed in pre-job briefings and by the project manager
  • Confer with engineers, liaising with sales, marketing, and production personnel, etc. to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information
  • Research and analyze design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications
  • Research, using mathematical modelling to identify feasibility of new developments and innovation functionality and cost-effectiveness, investigating appropriate materials and production processes
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports
  • Consulting and clarifying design issues with managers/clients about design requirements
  • Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications
  • Testing product designs by collecting and analyzing data from test models, prototypes, specialized computer software and CAD technology such as Autodesk Inventor
  • Liaise with manufacturing vendors to ensure design requirements are met for prototypes
  • Modify designs and re-test in advance of product manufacturing
  • Reporting: writing or presenting regular progress reports for project managers
  • Environmental assessment: taking into account the environmental impact of new products and their manufacturing processes and safe disposal methods
     
Job Requirements: 
Candidates must have:
 
•        Ph. D. in Engineering Mechanics with specific expertise in delamination, corrosion and dis-bonding in solid materials
•        Background in practical and theoretical Non-Destructive Testing practices
•        Minimum 5 years progressive experience in the research and development environment in aerospace, heavy industry, and oil & gas
•        Proven record of technical writing skills and ability to develop a concise technical report in a timely fashion
•        An excellent grasp of engineering and design principles
•        Strong communication, interpersonal and analytical skills
