Job Description

Job Purpose

To ensure all necessary conditions are in place to support productivity, quality, planning, delivery, and the supply of the material required to produce weather-strip within the timelines outlined by the customer. To guide the Production team through organization requirements (needs, objectives, indicators, roles, responsibilities, and issues).

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Implement practices that will satisfy the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers
  • Establish and implement the most appropriate solutions to counteract possible abnormal situations
  • Transmit relevant messages and information by using appropriate and varied strategies
  • Ensure the management of the required financial, material and human resources to attain objectives
  • Generate anticipated results as well as continuous improvements
  • Integrate production operation over three shifts
  • Ensure production team members are following company environmental, health and safety rules and policies
  • Establish short-term activities directed toward production continuity and balance (shift schedule, requisition of materials, machine loading, grievance resolution, equipment maintenance)
  • Coordinate and integrate with other departments to ensure support in attaining output, productivity and quality
  • Organize, train and motivate production supervisors and labour force to ensure consistent attainment of production schedules at optimum productivity and cost levels
  • Recommend improvements in production flow or methods
  • Manage operations to implement and execute TPS philosophy (one-piece flow, 5S, following standards)
  • Coordinate activity to meet manpower planning targets
  • Provide leadership and support to the Production team including managing performance, setting clear expectations, following up on issues, communication, etc.

Qualifications / Experience / Education

  • 5 years’ manufacturing experience at a management level is preferred
  • Experience with TPS or Lean Manufacturing is preferred
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety and Employment Standards legislation is required
  • Post-secondary education is preferred
  • Experience with the MS Office Suite of Products and SAP are preferred
