POSITION SUMMARY
In this position, you will work under the direction of the Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, the First Link Program Manager and the Volunteer Services Coordinator as required to facilitate the Society’s “Food for Thought” Social Recreation program in Strathroy. The program currently runs once per month (1st Thursday, 1pm – 3pm at Seasons Strathroy Retirement Communities). Additional time would be allocated per session for set-up and clean-up and monthly for program planning. This position may also have the opportunity to be involved in facilitation for an additional pilot program in Strathroy. Social Recreation Facilitators also meet quarterly at the London office with the Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, the First Link Program Manager and the Volunteer Services Coordinator, as required. 
 
QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Extensive knowledge of cooking;
  2. Experience teaching cooking an asset;
  3. Appropriate certification in food and kitchen safety and sanitation;
  4. Experience with public speaking;
  5. Demonstrated leadership skills through professional or volunteer activities;
  6. Experience working with volunteers an asset;
  7. Ability to work independently to develop curriculum for the program;
  8. Experience working with older adults an asset;
  9. Knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias an asset;
  10. Ability to use discretion, judgment and tact in handling sensitive/confidential information/situations;
  11. Ability to work in a team environment; and
  12. Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle (for program shopping).
  13. Note: Candidate from Strathroy or surrounding area preferred as mileage will not be offered.
