Western Continuing Studies (WCS) is the educational bridge between Western University and the global community, from its downtown location in London to its satellite campuses in Trois-Pistoles and Rimouski, Quebec. Through innovative leadership in lifelong learning, WCS creates and delivers responsive and accessible programs, including non-credit and credit courses in 1) public interest, 2) post-degree diplomas, 3) French immersion 4) corporate training and 5) Western eLearn. By offering diplomas, certificates and courses in partnerships with faculties, business organizations and professional associations, the unit serves over 2,500 students annually, including recent graduates, job seekers, employees, Western alumni, corporate clients, senior citizens and international students.
 
The Academic Program Coordinator is responsible for coordination of admissions and enrolment for the diploma/certificate programs, Western eLearn, and academic partnerships, as well as support for the registration system. These program areas contribute to WCS's mandate of serving as an educational bridge between the University and community.
 
Qualifications
Education:
-   3-year Undergraduate Degree
-   Honours Bachelor's Degree is preferred
 
Experience:
-   3 years' experience in an educational environment
-   Academic counselling or admissions experience would be an asset
-   3 years' experience in a program coordinator role, admissions officer or counselling role is preferred
-   Experience with adult learners and project management would be preferred
 
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
-   Knowledge of approaches and techniques for working with individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner
-   Ability to anticipate student needs and expectations in order to provide and satisfy expectations for a high quality student experience directly and indirectly
-   Experience with various databases and systems (Peoplesoft Higher Education and DestinyOne would be an asset)
-   Effective teamwork practices, including motivation and ability to work independently with little supervision
-   Admissions and counseling strategies, conflict management techniques, including difficult conversations
-   Meeting management
-   Knowledge of University policies and procedures would be an asset
-   Mental health first aid training would be an asset
-   High degree of professionalism with outstanding ability to work effectively and efficiently with internal and external clients
-   Work well under pressure and handle multiple conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
-   Excellent judgment, empathy and listening skills
-   Excellent verbal and written communication skills and confidence dealing with students, as well as all levels of an organization, including social media, e.g. Facebook, Twitter
-   Ability to multi-task with strong organizational skills
-   Creative problem-solving skills and sound professional judgment, especially regarding confidential/sensitive matters
-   Ability to work individually and within a team
-   Able to process information with high levels of accuracy
