The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry provides outstanding education within a research-intensive, distributed learning environment where tomorrow's physicians, dentists and health researchers and other scholars learn to be socially responsible leaders in the advancement of human health. The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry is the largest Faculty on campus and employs over 1,800 part time and full time faculty and over 1,500 staff.

The Development Services Team Leader provides leadership and direction to the Development Services Team which supports over 4,000 faculty, staff and students in the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry with mission critical applications. The Team Leader is responsible for the entire Development Services portfolio within Information Services including the development of applications for both a desktop and web environment using a SQL server back-end. The incumbent will be responsible for planning, organizing and supervising all activities and staff involved in the design, development, implementation, maintenance and support of all enterprise applications supported by Schulich Information Services. 

Qualifications 

Education:
-   University Degree in Computer Science
-   Project Management Designation (PMP) preferred
Experience:
-   5 years of software development experience (web and desktop)
-   3 years of supervisory experience leading teams
-   5 years of project management experience, successfully managing large and/or multiple projects in addition to minimum requirements preferred
Skills & Expertise:
-   Advanced knowledge and proven ability in software design and development
-   Knowledge of system and software quality assurance best practices and methodologies
-   Advanced experience in systems analysis and design, including business requirements gathering
-   Knowledge of database analysis and design as well as experience in an SQL server environment and file management techniques
-   Sound judgment and decision making skills
-   Critical thinking and discernment to assess and scope areas for improvement and an ability to offer creative solutions
-   Proven ability to take initiative and in depth knowledge of how to champion a project from conception through implementation and evaluation
-   Knowledge of project management methodologies and project life cycles
-   Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information of a highly technical or complex nature to non-technical audience
-   Strong customer service skills and ability to understand and translate customer needs and expectations and provide excellent customer service directly and indirectly to meet or exceed expectations
-    Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving ability with experience in overseeing the direction, development and implementation of software products
-   Self-driven, independent thinker who is highly motivated and possesses an intrinsic passion for quality 
-   Demonstrated coaching and mentoring skills to enable team members to achieve high-quality outcomes
-   Ability to handle diverse situations, multiple and complex projects and rapidly changing priorities
-   Strong problem solving skills including experience formulating and executing action plans, and ability to work well in an environment of ambiguity and uncertainty
-   Advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint, Visio)
-   Strong knowledge of PeopleSoft applications as well as PC/Mac Operating Systems and web-based technology
-   Ability and willingness to stay abreast of technological developments
