Operations Specialist

Supporting our client in Sarnia, Randstad Engineering is recruiting for an Operations Professional to join their team immediately on a Contract basis. Our client is in the Locomotion / Rail Industry and seeking related experience, excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well in highly stressful situations, working well with a diverse group of employees.

Operations Job Overview:
•Demonstrate a commitment to safety by conducting safety briefings, and performing safety observations
•Create daily work orders and switching assignments for railway crews to complete
•Conduct root cause analysis and problem solving activities involving train accuracy and data integrity
•Conduct job briefings to ensure clerical employees and railway crews stay abreast of process changes
•Receive daily service requirements from customers and assist with service issues
•Identify track location and placement of railcars and complete reporting on Mobile Rail Tool (MRT)
•Clear and professional use of radio communication
o First point-of-contact in case of an emergency
o Receive detailed information about customer service, railcar inventory and marshaling of trains
o Provide updates, including but not limited to, track work, natural disasters spills, etc.
o Monitor railway radio and Chimerical Valley Emergency Coordinating Organization (CVECO) network for emergencies, and communicate with EMS and Supervisor
•Monitor and update railcar yard inventory
•Ensure clerical payroll is timely and accurately completed and approved
•Facilitate data-to-day processing of work orders (including On Board Work Order), interchange reporting, Transportation Yard Management System (TYMS) inventory management, Car and Train reporting, Industrial Inventory Demurrage and Switching (IIDS) reporting, as well as managing Customer Operations Imaging (COI) images, Shipment Task Exception Productivity System (STEPS) and data summaries
•Support investigations of railway and hazardous occurrences
•Perform tasks to support compliance with Canadian federal agencies including, but not limited to, annual reports to Transport Canada and the Federal Labor Program, documenting completions required training programs, ensuring vehicle administration is up-to-date point-of-contact for contractors, manage Record of Employee (ROE) processes, and provide leadership by communicating safety targets and initiatives

Operations Requirements:
•High School Diploma
•2 years railway industry experience
•3-5 Years of experience in automation / custom machine build field
•Mainframe systems skills
•Ability to work well in highly stressful situations, working well with a diverse group of employees
•Ability to interact well in a team environment both inter and intra departmentally
•Different shifts as assigned in a 24 hour/7 days a week operation (including working weekends); work hours may vary in length and schedule (may include a non-standard work week)
