Reporting to the Manager - Engineering & Projects, this position is responsible for providing on a project specific basis, planning, design, commissioning and technical support of Transit and Locomotive electrical, instrumentation, and automation systems of varying size and complexity. Specifically, the Electrical Project Engineer will be responsible for but not limited to:

 

• Perform all aspects of technical project work.
• Oversee the technical details of assigned projects and delegate tasks
• Ensure all Engineering aspects of the Electrical systems are sound and that designs meet all associated design criteria and specifications
• Participate and lead in the design, preparation and approval of electrical, instrumentation and control systems and standards.
• Review technical work and contract requirements.
• Determine electrical and instrumentation requirements for new projects.
• Recommend technical direction for application of new equipment and upgrade of existing equipment, and assists in the support of existing systems.

  
Qualifications:
 

• Bachelors of Applied Science Degree in Electrical Engineering
• Electrical Engineer P.Eng
• Experience preferably encompassing embedded systems, communications and programming
• Experience with Instrumentation
• Strong computer skills
• Must have a minimum of 5 years of project engineering experience
• Effective planning, project management, and problem solving skills
• Ability to remain effective despite frequent shifts between planned and unplanned activities
• Ability to effectively interact with peers, internal stakeholders, vendors and service providers.
• Effective two-way communication skills, including verbal as well as written forms
