As an Instructional Design Writer, you’ll take Autodata Solutions (ASC) online training
products to the next level of excellence. You’ll be responsible for managing and
delivering the instructional development process, setting standards for
assisting the writing team (a cross functional team consisting of 1
to 10 people) in the design of curriculum and instruction, development of online
learning resources and the re-tooling of courses and course segments for
electronic delivery methods. And still get a chance to write learning modules
and related courseware for ASC’s proprietary e-learning applications.
As
the go-to person on the writing team, the Instructional Design Writer will also
be involved in the writing of product collateral, participating in the
editorial process and consulting with subject matter experts unique to our
industry.
Summary of Responsibilities:

Instructional
Design (E- learning Applications)
·
Write and design computer/web-based
training (CBT/WBT) and Instructor-led training (ILT)
·
In collaboration with Design Services and specialized
Information Architects; develop design documentation, mock-ups and
storyboards
·
Create instructor/leader’s guides and
participant materials (how-to workbooks), as well as develop this material
into successful e-learning platforms
·
Collaborate with
internal business units and/or leads to create interactive multimedia
training content, create web pages and learning curriculum.
·
Incorporate the use of best practice
technology to support instruction as needed (i.e., creation of online
instructional resources)
·
Adhere to internal design processes
·
Review and
update documentation and training materials
Documentation/Writing
·
Plan, design,
research, write and edit a range of documents, including user guides and
manuals, technical specifications, training materials, user policies and
proposals, for both print and online media
·
Write
educational web tutorials for automotive professionals (dealers, OEM’s and clients)
·
Liaise with
department heads and end users to define and identify business procedures and
establish documentation needs for hardware and software
·
Collaborate
with systems and development staff to collect and interpret business and
functional requirements
·
Create
templates to be utilized by other members of the writing and translation team

You possess:
·
A post secondary
education in Instructional Design, Library and Information Sciences,
Communications or a combination of relevant experience
·
5 years
“hands-on” experience in course design, curriculum design, or e-learning
·
Experience
utilizing graphic and multimedia authoring software and web design software for
the purposes of curriculum development and design
·
Excellent written
and verbal communication skills in English, French fluency an asset
·
Desired software
skills: Microsoft Office – Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access; Lectora, Adobe
Captivate, Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe PageMaker; Microsoft FrontPage, Macromedia
Flash Action Scripts, Macromedia DreamWeaver; RoboHelp, Adobe
Acrobat/Distiller, Adobe PhotoShop, Visio, SnagIt
