Job Description

Our client is seeking a highly collaborative, strategic, results-oriented Director of Operations who will be accountable for the overall operations, safety, and leadership of the manufacturing facility near Chatham-Kent, Ontario. This includes direct accountability over capital equipment installation and commissioning, scheduling, inventory management, production, maintenance, human resources, quality, and logistics.

As Director of Operations, you will:

  • Lead a high performing team and operation where safety is managed as a visible priority and “way of life” throughout the organization
  • Provide visionary and collaborative leadership to establish and maintain improved EHS practices, disaster prevention, and recovery plans
  • Manage costs, maximize profit, and exceed internal and external customer needs and requirements
  • Lead the timely and cost-effective delivery of quality products for the operation
  • Utilize highly developed organizational, analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills to effectively collaborate with teams across the corporation (marketing, sales, procurement, accounting, quality, engineering, and operations teams)
  • Manage improvement and capital projects, such as the purchase and installation of new equipment
To qualify for this position, you must have:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent discipline
  • 7+ years of demonstrated manufacturing operations management experience and an extensive skillset in technical, quality, administrative, and financial oversight
  • Proven plant management experience, including leading hourly work teams in a process intensive manufacturing environment
  • Professional, honest, and persuasive communication skills with a proactive and results-oriented attitude
  • A successful track record leading people and projects with cross-functional teams, customers, and suppliers
  • Thorough knowledge and hands-on experience in Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing and/or Six-Sigma, and 5S principles
  • Previous experience with plant start-ups, ERP/MRP implementations and relevant experience with shop-floor documentation, work-orders, inventory control, scheduling, and QC data management
