We are currently recruiting for a Safety Advisor. This is an in-person role, you must be willing to work in Sarnia Lambton.
Duties include:
- Develop coaching relationships with the project leadership team focused on helping them define and achieve their safety culture and continuously improve their safety performance.
- Lead by demonstrating the required behaviours, attitudes and mindset to further develop an already strong safety culture.
- Facilitate and participate in developing and implementing project/department Health and Safety plans, goals and objectives.
- Participate in the development of Health and Safety performance measures, understand the relative value, interpret results
- Provide preparation assistance and feedback for leaders of safety meetings with employees.
- Provide training, orientation and personal coaching to site staff.
- Coordinate and participate in the analysis, design, development, delivery and evaluation of safety-related training, as required.
- Provide support to project/department management and staff in interpreting and applying rules, regulations and legislation.
- Facilitate the implementation and administration of Health and Safety policies, processes and systems and monitor compliance with all relevant legislation, rules and regulations.
- Provide consultation and assist in risk identification assessment, hazard analysis and job planning.
- Develop job aids and methods to assist site personnel in these tasks.
- Review, and provide coaching and support as required in incident investigation.
- Support as required for the return-to-work program as identified by the Health and Safety Manager.
- Monitor site conditions and behaviours to identify risks and provide site leaders with input and recommendations to enhance safety performance.
- Conduct safety audits, coordinate audit recommendations, and assist in the development of corrective action plans in consultation with project/department management.
Qualifications:
- Certificate, diploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety.
- Accreditation as an OH&S professional (i.e., CRSP)
- Minimum three (3) years of experience.
- Working knowledge of OH&S policies, standards, legislation and procedures pertaining to the industry.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including oral, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to take initiative, and lead and motivate people.
- Ability to cooperate and deal tactfully with others.
- Must have knowledge of MS Office.
- Have general knowledge and the ability to learn and use additional job-specific application software, Industrial hygiene or atmospheric monitoring equipment as required.
