The Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Canada are currently seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to fill a position vacancy as a:
 
KINESIOLOGIST
Contract Full or Reduced Full-Time Position (approx. 18 mos)
Rate $31.88/hr
 
Position Summary: Reporting to the Nursing Supervisor or designate, the Kinesiologist is responsible for coordinating, developing, and evaluating restorative and functional-ability programs for the Sisters residing in the Care Centre and the Main Residence. The Kinesiologist conducts assessments, identifies functional goals, and designs. Implements and evaluates individualized and group exercise and restorative programs that support mobility, strength, balance, independence, and overall well-being.

The Kinesiologist provides one-on-one and group exercise programming and restorative support directly to the Sisters, ensuring that interventions reflect best practices in kinesiology and restorative care. The role offers clinical guidance, education, and ongoing program coordination and direction to the Restorative Care Aide and Nursing team. Collaboration with the Nursing Supervisor and Nursing Team is essential to monitor progress, adjust care plans, and respond to changes in functional status.

The Kinesiologist upholds all health and safety standards, adheres to infection-prevention practices, and contributes to a safe, respectful, mission-aligned environment that promotes dignity, engagement, and optimal functioning for the Sisters.

Qualifications:
  • Degree in Kinesiology or a related discipline and current registration in good standing with the College of Kinesiologists in Ontario or a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Minimum 1-3 years related experience preferred, preferably in a long term care, health care or an environment caring for those who have chronic conditions, mobility limitations or cognitive needs.
  • Experience collaborating and providing education within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Mechanical skills including supporting safe transfers, knowledge of use of lifts, mobility devices and supportive equipment relevant to the role.
  • Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • Frequent standing, walking, lifting, bending, and assisting with mobility.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with strong interpersonal skills.
Additional Requirements:
  • A police record check completed within the last six (6) months from a Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC), inclusive of vulnerable sector screening will be required by the successful candidate.
  • We have a mandatory vaccination and immunization policy in effect. Any offer of employment will be conditional on providing proof of vaccinations and TB testing in accordance with our policy.
