Assistant Branch Manager - Lambton

We are now accepting applications from current Langs employees interested in joining our Lambton leadership team as Assistant Branch Manager.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Branch Manager, the Assistant Branch Manager plays a key role in the effective day-to-day operation of the Lambton Branch. This position supports branch leadership, driver engagement, customer service activities, and administrative functions to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient student transportation services.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the Branch Manager in coordinating route coverage, managing daily driver activity, and ensuring consistent operational execution.
  • Assisting with communication to drivers, office staff, shop personnel, schools, parents/guardians, and other stakeholders.
  • Responding to, or triaging, inquiries received by phone or email; ensuring issues are escalated or resolved appropriately and efficiently.
  • Assisting with investigations related to school bus incidents, collisions, and customer concerns; following established procedures and safety protocols.
  • Supporting driver staffing initiatives including recruitment follow-up, onboarding coordination, referral programs, and driver engagement activities.
  • Assisting with monitoring attendance, performance, and conduct of branch staff; participating in coaching, documentation, and progressive discipline processes as appropriate.
  • Supporting charter administration including booking, dispatching, and ensuring accurate trip summaries for payroll and invoicing purposes.
  • Helping track operational expenditures and home-to-school route changes to support accurate invoicing and reporting.
  • Assisting with payroll preparation, data verification, and approvals.
  • Preparing reports, spreadsheets, and data summaries as required by the Branch Manager or management team.
  • Providing onsite support during peak operational periods, emergencies, or service disruptions.

WHAT WE NEED

  

  • Post-secondary education in business, transportation, logistics, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous experience in transportation, dispatch, operations, administration, or customer service is considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge of Ministry of Transportation regulations, the Highway Traffic Act, and school transportation operating requirements is an asset.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize, multitask, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong working relationships with drivers, school officials, parents, and colleagues.
  • Demonstrated ability to respond calmly, professionally, and decisively during time-sensitive or escalated situations.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook; ability to learn internal systems and databases.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing operational needs.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours based on operational requirements.
