As a result of planned expansion and international growth, we are currently looking for a person to join and grow with our Information Technology team.  We require a System Administrator to help further develop and support our infrastructure and related systems.  The System Administrator will be accountable for the following systems: VMWare vSphere, Microsoft Windows Servers, E-mail Servers, Blackberry Enterprise Servers, backup systems and Citrix Xen (App, Server and Desktop) infrastructure.  The System Administrator is also a level 2 and 3 support resource, working in conjunction with the Help Desk and Business Systems teams.

 

Qualifications:

 

Formal Education & Certification

• College diploma or University degree in the field of computer science or related

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Systems Administrator

• Certifications in VMWare Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP4-DCA), Microsoft Certified Master

 

Knowledge & Experience

• Working technical knowledge of network, PC, and platform operating systems, including ESX 4.1, ESXi 4.1, Microsoft Windows Server 2003/2008/2008R2, Microsoft Windows XP/7, Citrix Xen (Apps, Server, Desktop and HDX)

• Extensive application support experience with virtual environment for both Server and VDI as well as Terminal Services

• Working technical knowledge of current systems software, protocols, and standards, including ISA, Active Directory, GPO, Web Services, TCP/IP, vCenter,

• Extensive experience in Project Management Methodologies

• Strong knowledge of local and wide area network administration.

• Hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience.

• Experience documenting and maintaining configuration and process information.

Job Responsibilities:

·         Contribute to and lead the development of infrastructure standards (technical, process, etc.)

·         Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks.  Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.

·         Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of systems procurement and development efforts.

·         Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, workstations, servers, printers, firewalls, encryption systems, and all host security systems, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.

·         Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.

·         Perform regular security monitoring and audit of systems; recommend and implement corrective actions

·         Manage end user accounts, permissions, access rights, and storage allocations in accordance with best-practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.

·         Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software problems on servers, input/output fleet, and workstations.

·         Support application development teams throughout project lifecycles.

·         Recommend, schedule, and perform software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches, reconfigurations, and/or purchases.

·         Develop, document, and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for system administration and appropriate use.

·         Develop and execute complex project plans

·         Manage and/or provide guidance to junior members of the team.

·         Support Help Desk team with Level 2 and 3 incidents that are server related

·         Be part of the IT after-hours support on-call rotation
