The Department of Information Technology Services (ITS) is a central source committed to providing high-quality, cost-effective technology solutions and services to the campus community in support of the teaching and research missions of the University. ITS works collaboratively with other IT groups within Western's faculties and support units to leverage central supported technology solutions and services where it makes sense. 

The eLearning Technology Team Leader role manages, mentors and guides a team of eLearning Technology Specialists and ITRC student consultants in providing eLearning technology support for all Staff, Faculty and Students at Western. The Team Leader works to enhance and develop opportunities for technology-enhanced learning and to find optimal solutions to integrate eLearning applications into on-line courses and in the face-to-face classroom. The Team Leader is responsible for identifying and evaluating new teaching and learning software and has a shared accountability for eLearning technology at Western along with the Associate Director of the Teaching Support Centre (TSC). In partnership with the TSC, the Team Leader promotes and fosters a collaborative approach to ensure Western faculty are receiving the best advice and direction in matching pedagogical goals with the most appropriate technology tools. The incumbent is responsible for all functions involved in leading skilled and knowledgeable eLearning technology experts including recruiting, assessing performance, setting individual and team goals, managing conflict, effecting communication, and promoting team collaboration. 

Qualifications 
Education:
-   University degree
-   Degree or Certification in one of the following disciplines: Computer Science, Education, Leadership, and Communications preferred

Experience:
-   10 years experience assisting instructors in their use of technology to enhance teaching and learning in an academic setting
-   Experience developing and presenting "how to use" instruction to those who wish to use technology tools in their teaching
-   2 years experience in a supervisory role

Skills & Expertise:
-   In-depth knowledge of a Learning Management Systems (LMS) and familiarity with virtual classroom and lecture capture technology
-   Solid understanding of learning tools, objects and modules used in teaching and learning
-   Knowledge of pedagogy concepts, project management methodologies and project life cycles
-   Proven ability to effectively manage all resources for project completion, to manage multiple projects, people and schedules within an academic context
-   Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information of a highly technical or complex nature to non-technical audience
-   Ability and willingness to stay abreast of technological developments, and to quickly research, evaluate and recommend the viability of technologies and innovations in eLearning
-   Ability to develop innovative customer service initiatives which improve quality and enhances customer satisfaction
-   Strong client focus and a desire to achieve results is essential
-   Ability to integrate new information, draw conclusions and proactively anticipate and prevent problems
-   Ability to adapt efficiently to emerging priorities and technologies
-   Ability to establish and build healthy working relations and partnerships with faculty, peers, and other departments
-   Effective staff management with an ability to develop a strong department team coupled with an ability to work effectively as a member of the ITS management team
-   Strong leadership with an ability to coach and mentor team members to achieve high-quality outcomes
-   Exceptional organizational skills, including managing multiple competing priorities
-   Demonstrated ability to prepare and make presentations to large groups of colleagues and lead an effective meeting
-   A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution and people management skills
