Lucas Professional Search Group is recruiting for a Senior Buyer for a leading manufacturing company in the automotive industry.  The Senior Buyer will be responsible for identifying cost reductions, negotiating with suppliers, and providing quotation for materials.

Located in South Western Ontario on the Canada/US border, across from Detroit Michigan, bordered by the Detroit River, Lake St. Clair and Lake Erie, Windsor and Essex County is a vibrant geographical area.  Being Canada’s southernmost point, the region boasts the warmest climate in all of Ontario. 

The City of Windsor is comprised of residential, industrial, commercial, institutional, and rural areas along with a vibrant multicultural society with a growing population of 216,000. The County of Essex consists of seven municipalities with a population of 166,000.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
 

• Identify and lead new cost reduction initiatives
• Negotiate with suppliers to maximize corporation’s position on price, delivery, quality and commonality
• Perform cost analysis and assist in summarizing cost savings
• Identify new areas to support communization of parts and consolidation of supply base
• Provide accurate components costs to the quotation process for bill of material parts
• Able to develop strategies for commodities.  Knowledge of at least two major commodities
• Support implementation of business system
• Assists in preparing annual budget for the department
• Provide support to L&P Automotive Group.
• Participates actively in the requirement to retain ISO/TS16949/ISO14001 certification

 
QUALIFICATIONS:
 

• University degree in business, engineering or supply chain management
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in purchasing within an ISO/TS16949 manufacturing environment, specifically dealing in Tier 1 or Tier 2 automotive industries
• SCMP/CPP designation
• Able to read prints and good understanding of GD&T
• Accustomed to automotive terminology
• Good verbal and written communication skills
