LUSO Community Services is a neighbourhood resource centre dedicated to promoting inclusiveness, well-being and prosperity in the London community.
MANAGER,
LUSO Community Services is seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager to support staff within two key programs supporting newcomers and immigrants. The Manager will be responsible to lead, guide and support staff working as Settlement Workers in Schools, and within the Community Connections program. The Manager will supervise 12 individuals.
Job Summary: This is a Management position, overseeing two programs within LUSO: Settlement Workers in Schools ( SWIS) and the Community Connections program.
The Settlement Workers in Schools Program (SWIS) assists newcomer students and their families by providing settlement services and information about community resources. This is accomplished by having SWIS workers placed in schools that have high number of newcomer students and families. The program is in partnership with the Thames Valley District School Board and the London District Catholic School Board.
The Community Connections program provides diverse opportunities for newly arrived newcomer youth, adults and families to integrate successfully into their community. This is accomplished through weekly programming as well as community events and activities.
This position is funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada ( IRCC). Successful candidate must be able to legally work in Canada.
Reporting: The Manager will report directly to the Director of Settlement Services.
Commitment: The position is permanent, full time, 40 hours per week. The candidate must be available to work occasional evenings or occasional weekend as part of providing support and supervision to individuals directly reporting to them. Expected start date: October 7th, 2024

Salary: $66,350/year
In addition to statutory holidays throughout the year and personal vacation time, employees will have paid sick time, and paid winter shut down between Christmas and New Year. Additionally, LUSO offers a comprehensive Health and Dental package to its permanent employees.

Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and provide leadership to the Settlement Workers in Schools (SWIS) team
- Oversee all aspects of Community Connections programming, including staff supervision and guidance with planning activities and community events, this may also include supporting delivery and facilitation of monthly family events
- Develop and implement strategies for outreach, and establish appropriate community partnerships to ensure programming is reaching intended community members
- Respond to identified needs by working collectively with Community Connections front line staff to assess feasibility for new initiatives, considering financial resources and capacity
- Manage the reporting of assigned program results, ensuring outcomes are met and exceed contractual obligations to funders
- Oversee program evaluation to ensure effectiveness of service and resources
- Work collaboratively with Director of Settlement Services to coordinate professional development opportunities for staff specifically working with newcomers and funded by IRCC
- Participate in working groups and committees as it relates to the objectives and outcomes of the funding agreement with IRCC
- Support promotion of existing programs to reach the broader newcomer population in Northeast London
- Fulfill administrative duties associated of the program such as maintaining statistics, evaluation, report writing, committee meetings, community meetings, etc.
- Constructive participation as a member of the LUSO staff team by furthering collective team goals and representing the principles and values of LUSO Community Services in all interaction with others
Key Qualifications:
- A post secondary degree or diploma in Social Work,Community development, Social services or similar focus
- Demonstrated management experience, at minimum 2-3 years of experience in a management or leadership role, supervising a team
- Dynamic team player who takes initiative and is able to work independently, as well as part of a diverse staff team
- Excellent interpersonal skills as well as verbal and written communication skills
- Strong conflict resolution and time management skills
- Must be self-motivated and demonstrate ability to set priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to develop professional working relationships with team members to guide, motivate and support them to accomplish program goals
- Knowledge and experience with different community engagement strategies
- Experience with report writing, maintaining statistics
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Ability to handle the privacy of confidential information and use sound judgement in protecting confidential information
- Proficiency with Microsoft office, email, and database entry
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle is required as activities take place in various community locations and candidate has to be able to effectively support staff they supervise by visiting various community locations
- Clearance through a Vulnerable populations police screening process. Must have before commencing employment
- Current CPR and First Aid certification-must have before commencing employment
