Controls Technician

Job Description

Autotube Limited, an automotive parts manufacturer with locations in Strathroy and Watford is looking for an experienced Controls Technician for both locations. 

The successful candidate will be able to design and service machine control systems. This position plays a key role on our production teams and will work on improvements to increase output, reduce set up time, etc.

We offer a very competitive wage and benefits package and the opportunity to work straight days Monday to Friday 7am to 3:30pm (no shift rotation).

Areas of responsibility include the following:

  • Consulting diagrams and technical documentation such as schematics, manuals, standards and codes
  • Maintaining backup and revision documentation for control systems and instrumentation
  • Installing, configuring, calibrating and maintaining control, measurement and indicating instrumentation (pneumatic, analog & digital)
  • Configuring and programming PLC and robots
  • Installing and terminating electrical, pneumatic and fluid connections
  • Inspecting and testing the operation of instruments and systems to diagnose faults
  • Removing, repairing, adjusting and replacing components
  • Calibrating components and systems
  • Performing scheduled maintenance programs
  • Keeping up to date with advances in technology in the industry and the trade

The key attributes of this position are the ability to pay attention to detail, with strong problem solving and communication skills as well as mathematical and scientific aptitude. The main responsibility is to keep the manufacturing facility running with an ability to work well with people, and be a team player with a positive attitude. Basic mechanical knowledge and fabrication skills are required: able to use basic hand tools as well as a drill, mill, drill press and lathe. Welding skills would be an asset.

The successful candidate will have the ability to read prints, both electrical and mechanical. They will be able to think in abstract terms, solve complex problems and apply troubleshooting skills in a very fast paced environment. They are a self starter with initiative, who is a fast learner and is eager to learn new technologies and systems.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD is required with good verbal and written communication skills. The ability to work in a team environment is required with a strong interest in self improvement and a desire to learn new and upcoming technologies.
