The Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Canada are currently seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to fill a position vacancy as a:
 
RESTORATIVE CARE AIDE
Full or Reduced Full-Time Position
Rate $27.60/hr
 
Position Summary: Receiving direction from the Nursing Supervisor or designate in charge, the Restorative Care Aide provides one-to-one and group restorative programming support to the Sisters residing in both the Care Centre and the Main Residence. The role promotes functional ability, mobility, and independence through restorative programs delivered in accordance with individualized care plans and restorative care principles. Responsibilities include one-to-one and small group assistance with therapeutic exercises, mobility routines, activities of daily living, and other interventions designed to maintain or enhance physical and cognitive functioning.

Qualifications:

  • Kinesiology Degree or Diploma in Restorative Care, Physiotherapy Assistant, Occupational Therapy Assistant, or PSW with similar specialization. Kinesiology or Physiotherapy background strongly preferred.
  • 1-3 years related experience preferred, preferably with long term care, health care or an environment caring for those who have complex medical or cognitive needs.
  • Mechanical skills including the use of mechanical lifts, mobility devices and equipment relevant to the role.
  • Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • Frequent standing, walking, lifting, bending, and assisting with mobility.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with strong interpersonal skills.
  • A police record check completed within the last six (6) months from a Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC), inclusive of vulnerable sector screening, will be required of the successful candidate
The incumbent must be available to work all shifts including days, evenings, weekends and holidays and has a willingness to work flexible hours or shifts as required, based on operational needs.

Additional Requirements:
  • A police record check completed within the last six (6) months from a Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC), inclusive of vulnerable sector screening will be required by the successful candidate.
  • We have a mandatory vaccination and immunization policy in effect. Any offer of employment will be conditional on providing proof of vaccinations and TB testing in accordance with our policy.
