About the Role

Salary: $219,000

The Senior Superintendent of Program and Learning Services is a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer. This role provides strategic leadership and oversight for all program and learning services across the district, ensuring alignment with the Board’s Multi-Year Strategic Plan, Student Achievement and Equity Plan, Ministry of Education directives and Board Policies. The Senior Superintendent champions innovation, equity, and excellence in all curriculum areas including Literacy and Numeracy, Specialized Secondary Programs and Partnerships, Special Education, Student Services, Instructional Information Technology and Research and Assessment to improve student achievement and well-being.

Duties will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide visionary leadership for program development, implementation, and evaluation to enhance student learning and achievement.
  • Oversee integrated system planning, including curriculum, special education, research and assessment, and technology-enabled learning.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal requirements, Board policies, and Ministry of Education Acts and Regulations directly related to program.
  • Direct and coordinate curriculum implementation, classroom resource development, and program reviews.
  • Supervise and support Superintendents of Student Achievement, System Principals and Managers within Program and Learning Services.
  • Collaborate with designated Superintendent of Student Achievement to ensure special education programs and services meet Ministry standards and student needs.
  • Oversee student services including psychological services, attendance and counseling, speech and language, and alternative education programs.
  • Provide leadership in integrating technology into teaching and learning, including e-learning and digital communication strategies.
  • Foster partnerships with community organizations to support classroom programs and experiential learning opportunities.
  • Participate as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, contributing to system-wide policy development, budget planning, and strategic decision-making and governance.
  • Act as a key advisor to the Chief Executive Officer on program and learning matters.
  • Supervise assigned families of schools, including principals and vice principals, ensuring quality and continuous improvement.
  • Prioritize Indigenous Peoples, human rights, anti-oppression and equity in all structures, policies, practices and decision-making.
  • Respond to parent and community concerns and maintain effective communication with stakeholders.
  • Direct resource allocation and budget planning to maximize efficiency and compliance.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Ontario Supervisory Officer’s Certificate.
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in senior educational leadership at the superintendent level or higher or equivalent with a focus on curriculum, equity, and student achievement.
  • Proven ability to lead complex organizational change and foster collaborative relationships.
  • Strong knowledge of Ministry of Education policies, Acts, and regulations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in resource management, compliance, and operational efficiency.
