Salary: $163,225-$185,000


The Grand Erie District School Board is seeking dynamic, passionate and dedicated educational leaders to provide ongoing support to create positive outcomes for students. The Grand Erie District School Board is inviting applications for inclusion in the Superintendent of Education Pool (elementary) for future Superintendent of Education vacancies.

We are located in the southern portion of the province of Ontario. The Board spans a geographic area encompassing the City of Brantford and the Counties of Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk, as well as students from Six Nations of the Grand River First Nation and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation.  The Education Centre is located in Brantford. The district serves more than 28,000 students in rural and urban settings, with 3,000 employees. 

Successful applicants for inclusion in the Superintendent of Education Pool (elementary) must hold the following qualifications:
  • Have successful experience in a principal or superintendent role.
  • Hold a Supervisory Officer certificate, be actively enrolled in the Supervisory Officer’s Qualification Program (SOQP) or intend to begin the program with a commitment to completion by June 2027.

As a member of the Board’s senior administrative team, reporting to the Director of Education, the successful candidate(s) will:
  • Demonstrate expertise as a strong instructional leader and evidence of impact/
  • Build the capacity of staff through strength-based leadership.
  • Facilitate Family of Schools learning sessions with impact and insight.
  • Motivate and lead others in the systematic use of assessment and evidence-based data to improve student learning outcomes.
  • Model superior leadership, communication, and organizational skills with a focus on student success, and well-being.
  • Collaborate meaningfully with a team of system leaders;
  • Champion equity, inclusion, anti-racism, and anti-oppression, wellbeing and digital literacy with a demonstrated commitment to removing barriers to student success.
  • Proven system-wide implementation of district initiatives
  • Work with parents, and community effectively.
  • Deep understanding of Human Resource, Finance and Governance systems.
  • Commit to continuous professional growth and reflective leadership practice.
  • Act as an agent of the Board by aligning leadership practices with the Grand Erie Strategic Plan and Annual Learning and Operating Plans.

Indigenous lived experience or demonstrated experience engaging with Indigenous students, families, and communities will be considered a valuable asset.

Successful applicants to the pool will be appointed as positions become available.  The pool will be in effect for a period of 2 years after which time applicants will have to re-apply.

Interviews will take place in late June.
