Position: Community Program Director Location: Sarnia, Ontario Start Date: As soon as Possible Salary: Starting rates $49,023.00 annual

Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday
  • 7.5 hour workday
  • 37.5 hour work week
  • Hours fluctuate between 7:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.

Responsibilities:

  • Overall management and operation of Authorized Recreational and Skill-Building Programs for children and youth ages 4 to 12 within 3 community townhomes (before/after school and summer).
  • Conduct regular site visits to all Resource House program locations to ensure quality programming, effective communication with staff, monitor staff interactions with children and act as a positive role model.
  • Complete mid-year and year-end performance management reviews with staff.
  • Build relationships and maintain professional communication with parents, participants, and community members.
  • Build and maintain strong community partnerships (i.e., S.C.C.Y, United Way, third party recreation etc.)
  • Support the review of the design and implementation of quality age-appropriate programs for children and youth with a focus on student physical, cognitive, language, emotional, social, and creative development and well-being.
  • Responsible for the health and safety of participants, co-workers, volunteers, and self.
  • Will support in program as needed due to staff absences.
  • Prepare appropriate documentation related to attendance, program plans, incident reports, and other administrative requirements meeting timelines.
  • Demonstrates YMCA Core Values- Respect, Responsibility, Honesty, Inclusiveness and Caring- in all daily interactions.
  • Ensure own performance is in compliance with the policies and procedures of the YMCA of Southwestern Ontario, including Health and Safety, Child Safeguarding and Risk Management.
  • Supports the completion of funders financial reports in partnership with Regional Manager. (United Way and OCCMS)
  • Process all registrations in a timely manner and monitor enrollment.
  • Ability to evaluate program quality through surveys for participants and families.
  • Recruitment, training, scheduling of staff and volunteers
  • Attendance and participation in staff meetings and training sessions.

Education and Skills Qualifications:

  • Experience in the development and delivery of recreational programs specific to children and youth is an asset
  • Secondary education or training in Early Childhood Education, Child & Youth Care, Social Service Work, or Recreation and Leisure is preferred.
  • Current and acceptable Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Position Screen is a condition of employment for all staff and volunteers.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification or include the date of training scheduled within the next three months. Training cost and time is at the expense of the applicant and not reimbursed.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle for travel between sites.
