The YMCA of Southwestern Ontario seeks the following:

Registered Early Childhood Educator( RECE) ( NOC 42202)

Licensed Child Care Location: 1015 Finch Drive, Sarnia, ON N7S 6G5)

In this role, you will perform the following duties:
 
  • Plan and deliver a consistent child-centered program in accordance with our YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum (0–6-year-olds).
  • Assess the abilities and needs of children and monitor their progress.
  • Provide quality compassionate care and support to children and their families.
  • Ensure supervision and safety of children at all times.
  • Understand and comply with provincial (CCEYA), municipal and YMCASWO policies and procedures.
  • Report any issues in contravention of the CCEYA, YMCASWO policies and procedures
  • Identify signs of potential learning and/ or behavioural problems in children and document the observations following policies and procedures.
  • Be committed to diversity, equity, inclusion and building a sense of belonging.

Required Qualifications:
  • Early Childhood Education Diploma or diploma or degree in a related field of study.
  • Registered (or proof that registration is in process) and in good standing in the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE);
  • Minimum six (6) months’ work experience as Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE).
  • Graduates in a related field of study must be members of their associations as required.
  • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification or include the date of training scheduled within the next three months. Training cost and time is at the expense of the applicant and not reimbursed.
  • Applicants are required to be a minimum of 18 years of age to acquire a current Vulnerable Criminal Reference Check (less than 6 months old);
  • Required to work all shifts on a rotating basis, that cover the full hours of operation of the centre
  • Up-to-date immunizations required by Public Health and the Ministry of Education and YMCASWO.
  • Ability to use frequent light to medium physical effort: lifting to 20 kg (44 lbs.), bending and stooping.

Compensation:
  • Permanent, Full time (37.5 hrs/wk.) @ $22.00 - $24.00 /hr (includes government wage enhancements for RECE’s). 
  • Benefits include health, dental, pension, life insurance, membership to our Y facilities.
