Position: Resource Houses Community Program Director
Location: Various Locations Sarnia ON (660 Oakdale Ave)
Start Date: March 8, 2024
Compensation: $42, 900 starting annual salary

Schedule:
• 37.5 hrs/week with a flexible schedule able to work a range of shifts that might include early mornings and evenings)
• 7.5 hour workday
Responsibilities:
• The Community Program Director will design inclusive activities and support systems for staff and participants inside of the program and community partners within the Sarnia-Lambton area.
• Create a friendly welcoming environment for families and participants.
• Build relationships and maintain communication with parents and participant
• Design and implement high quality age-appropriate programs for children and youth, with a focus on creativity, flexibility and spontaneity.
• Supervise and mentor staff and children during scheduled times.
• Responsible for the health and safety of participants, co-workers, volunteers and self
• Communicate with parents and community contacts in a professional manner at all times.
• Prepare appropriate documentation related to attendance, program plans, incident reports, and other administrative requirements meeting Supervisor timelines.
• Role model YMCA Standards, YMCA Values and Commitment to Service
• Ensure own performance is in compliance with the policies and procedures of the YMCA of Southwestern Ontario, including Health and Safety, Child Protection and Risk Management.
• Follow the Public Health and Fire Regulations/Requirements.
• Demonstrate consistent practice of clean culture, ensuring site and program rooms are clean, organized, and professional looking. All areas of the classroom must be always child ready – all centers are available to children throughout the day.
• Utilize age-appropriate child coaching and mentoring techniques in all interactions with the children.
• Responsible for staff and volunteer training and development, generating knowledge and understanding of child guidance, behaviour management, effective communication and program outcomes and planning.
• Attendance and participation in staff meetings and training sessions.
• May be required to provide supervision and direction to students/volunteers placed within the centre and prepare the necessary monitoring reports.

Education and Skills Qualifications:
• Experience in the development and delivery of recreational programs specific to children and youth is an asset
• Experience working with children in a recreational setting is an asset
• Secondary education or training in Early Childhood Education, Child & Youth Care, Social Service Work, or Recreation and Leisure are considered an asset
• Valid Standard First Aid certification including infant and child CPR issued by a training agency recognized by the Workplace Safety Insurance Board
• Current and acceptable Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Position Screen is a condition of employment for all staff and volunteers.
• It is a YMCA of Southwestern Ontario requirement that all employees and volunteers have a minimum of two vaccinations against COVID-19. Exemptions will be granted upon receipt of acceptable proof of a permissible Human Rights Code ground. This requirement has been suspended effective June 30, 2022. It may be reinstated in future should the state of public health in our communities require it.
