JOB TITLE: Buyer
SALARY RANGE: $63,172 - $83,542
HIRING RANGE: $63,172 - $80,628

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Buyer provides leadership to the TVDSB in the procurement of commodities and services, assists in the development and execution of policies and procedures. The Buyer provides exceptional customer service to staff /outside agencies. The Buyer provides direction to the Purchasing Assistants, Purchasing Services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage tendering activities for commodities as assigned; issue new/renew tenders, Request for Proposals (RFP), Request for Quotes (RFQ) and service agreements; work with committees to evaluate and award; renew as required (yearly); respond to all tender related inquiries
  • Provide customer service to school/TVDSB staff, including who should place orders and how to place orders, product inquiries, return inquiries, expediting, training, etc.
  • Provide customer service to vendors, including Purchase Order (PO) issues/pricing, missing information, tender questions, etc.
  • Review, analyze and process purchase requisitions, investigate vendor issues as required, provide advice to schools and administrator as to how to fulfil requests
  • Research existing and new commodities/products/services

QUALITIES/SKILLS/SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE:
  • Proficient in computer applications such as Outlook 365, MS Office Suite, etc. inclusive of data analysis
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with effective communication skills, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Advanced knowledge of supply chain practices and principles
  • Ability to manage and lead projects and actively participate on committees
  • Ability to present to small and large groups

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • Completion of a two (2) year post-secondary program in Purchasing, Business Administration or equivalent
  • Three (3) years of related purchasing work experience is required
  • Certified Supply Chain Management Professional Designation (CSCMP) an asset

First consideration will be given to permanent members of The Association of Administrative, Professional and Support Personnel (AAPSP).
