About the Role
This posting is for a permanent existing vacancy.
The Thames Valley District School Board is seeking a dynamic leader to join our senior leadership team as Senior Superintendent of Corporate Services & Treasurer.
Reporting to the Director of Education, this role oversees finance, business operations, payroll, facilities, capital projects, capital planning, transportation and information technology infrastructure. The successful candidate will foster collaboration and ensure transparent, accountable operations.
Duties will include but are not limited to the following:
- Lead preparation and presentation of the Board’s annual budget and financial statements (over $1 billion).
- Manage financial planning, accounting, payroll, procurement and reporting.
- Support risk management and the Audit Committee.
- Develop policies, procedures and action plans for efficient resource utilization.
- Ensure the business and operational functions of the Board are conducted in a prudent, transparent, and publicly accountable manner.
- Develop and implement facilities and capital planning strategies to manage the Board’s capital projects, building maintenance and operations, and improvements of elementary and secondary schools.
- Develop and implement information and communication technology strategies aligned with the Board’s objectives; manage cybersecurity and data risks.
- Ensure technology investments support student learning and long-term value.
- Represent the Board as a Director on the Southwestern Ontario Student Transportation Services (STS) consortium; serve as key contact for transportation matters.
- Business Supervisory Officer’s Certificate, as specified by the Ministry of Education, or ability to complete qualifications within two (2) years of application.
- A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) professional designation is required.
- Relevant university degree and a minimum of seven (7) years of proven leadership experience in a school board (preferred) or similar large, complex, public and/or private organizations.
- Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and management skills.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in financial analysis and reporting, budget development, risk management and regulatory compliance.
- Strong fiscal management skills and knowledge of accountability metrics.
- Knowledge of Public Sector accounting, internal and external audit processes, and relevant legislation.
- Strong critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Political astuteness and ability to build effective partnerships with internal and external parties including the Ministry Appointed Supervisor or Board of Trustees, staff, community and educational partners, the general public and Ministry officials.
